A short shout for Tuesday as I head out to pick up some lunch; I know, TMI. But a brotha's gotta eat!

Anyway... I particularly liked the look and feel of this 10-minute short film by London-based filmmaker Shola Amoo who calls it an experimental surreal thriller he co-directed with Nosa Nedion titled Reparations For The Soul.

Brith Ashley Walters (who we've written about several times already) stars in it, as do Kyla Frye, and Michael Maris.

Shola says he co-owns a production company Precise Pictures with Nosa Nedion, and their mission is to create "visually stunning and original work."

Shola's provided biography:

SHOLA AMOO has participated in both The Soho and The Royal Court Theatre's "Young writers group", culminating in his short play "Metamorphosis" being performed at Soho Theatre in 2008. Shola subsequently went on to develop two features plays; these were: "A Decade Under The Influence" which was performed at The Young Vic Theatre and "Abdul", developed by The Old Vic New Voices and performed at the Jerwood Space. Shola is an award winning filmmaker, his first fiction short "The Hydra" a neo noir drama that he wrote and co-directed, won best film at the BFM shorts awards 2009. The success of "The Hydra" led him to intern at Film 4. Shola then went on to write and co-direct the supernatural thriller "Reparations For The Soul” starring Ashley Walters. “The Prayer” is Shola's latest short film. It will premiere at the Samsung women’s international festival in India in July 2012. Shola is currently developing three projects at the National Film & Television School (NFTS) where he studies under the prestigious Toledo Scholarship. He is also developing work under Precise Pictures with Nosa Nedion".

Shola adds that Reparations For The Soul was created as part of a social campaign to raise awareness of the consequences of youth violence (particularly black on black).

You got my attention Shola; we'll be watching as you progress.
