Survivor's Remorse

STARZ's upcoming half-hour scripted comedy series "Survivor’s Remorse" from LeBron James, Tom Werner, Mike O’Malley, Maverick Carter and Paul Wachter, is set in the world of professional basketball and follows Cam Calloway, a basketball phenom in his early 20’s who is suddenly thrust into the limelight after signing a multi-million dollar contract with a professional basketball team in Atlanta. Cam, along with his cousin and confidant Reggie Vaughn, move to Georgia to start Cam’s journey to success. The two confront the challenges of carrying opportunistic family members and their strong ties to the impoverished community that they come from. Cam, Reggie and a group of supporting characters wrestle with the rewards and pitfalls of stardom, love and loyalty.

Jessie T. Usher has been cast in the role of Cam Calloway, Ronreaco Lee has been cast as Reggie Vaughn, Erica Ash has been cast as M-Chuck, the sister of Cam Calloway, and Tichina Arnold has been cast as Cassie, Cam’s mother. They join Teyonah Parris who was cast as Reggie’s wife Missy.

Mike O’Malley, consulting producer and writer on "Shameless" and Emmy-nominated actor for his role on "Glee," will serve as executive producer and writer. LeBron James will serve as an executive producer along with Tom Werner.

This will be the second new series with a starring black cast that STARZ greenlit this year - the other being the 50-Cent produced "Power," which stars Omari Hardwick, currently running.

"Survivor’s Remorse" is set for a 6-episode first season debuting in the fall of 2014.

Hmmm.... I will give this show a chance. I think black people in general have to realize that we just started in this business of television. I say that because we are just now getting the chance to make our own shows and have our own Networks. If you think the best will be given to us you have another coming! I will watch this to support LeBron James!

  • NO BRAINER | July 17, 2014 9:18 AMReply

No. The dialogue is a big indicator of this show's low quality.

easy breezy slice of life ,not bad,not bad ,at all.People talking about looking back being awake and kind,I'll watch this.

    Bron Bron...take this L!!!

  • ez | July 15, 2014 12:31 PMReply

I couldn't understand half of what was said, fast talk and marbles in the mouth, does not make for good tv.

  • Ol' Skool | July 15, 2014 12:01 PMReply

Thank you [mom] for not aborting me!!!??? What... who made the decision to open with THAT line? Plzzzzzz, I'm out.

Well, I would say more but Andre Seewood's Devil's Eye Syndrome is bearing down on me. Then again, I've been an old skool fool for quite some time and it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks... soooooo, the acting sucked, the lines were offensive and not funny... and a fool and his money will soon part.

Hey Lebron Tron, stay in your lane. Granted, you have enough money to last 10 lifetimes, but man, you call yourself a mentor and a role model, so practice what you preach. This mess is not a good look nor does it send the right message.

And, who, exactly, is the audience for this?

  • Ol' Skool | July 15, 2014 4:55 PM

Seriously... Ghost?! Well, I can not go there with you.

All young black kids who aspire to play in the NBA are not dumb. To suggest such is as short-sighted as saying every person who dreams of being a United States Senator is dumb. In each case there ARE only a few position available, but a "dumb" person would limit their possibilities. So I have to ask, were you (on the sly) trying to slip in a racial slur? I mean, surely you know this program is geared toward adults, right?

Then what's with the "dumb little black boy basketball player" line?

  • Ghost | July 15, 2014 4:25 PM

It's for the dumb little black boy basketball player with NBA dreams. Now if they are going to show an honest version of what most jocks really deal with-that's fine but if you are going to sugarcoat it into a false image-no thanks.

  • Naoni | July 15, 2014 11:47 AMReply

Ha! This is pretty cute. It'll do well in a six-episode run.

  • Darkan | July 15, 2014 11:17 AMReply

And that's a NO. Definitely not Power potential and doesn't look funny.

  • NO BRAINER | July 17, 2014 9:14 AM

"Power" POTENTIAL??? Bwahahahahahaha! You're kidding, right? I like a good joke from time to time. Good one.
