If Loving You Is Wrong

On the heels of OWN's popular series "The Haves and the Have Nots" comes Tyler Perry's new primetime drama "If Loving You is Wrong," premiering on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, Tuesday, September 9 with two back-to-back, one-hour episodes from 9 pm to 11pm ET/PT.

With a diverse cast and storylines, the drama takes viewers into the lives of a group of husbands, wives and friends in the same middle class neighborhood. On the surface they are true-to-life, relatable people - raising children, working jobs, finding and maintaining romance - but just below the veneer of happiness, their lives are full of heartbreak, deceit and lies that threaten to destroy it all.

The season premiere opens in the middle of a torrid affair between neighbors Randal (Eltony Williams, "24") and Alex (Amanda Clayton, "John Carter"). Randal's wife Marcie (Heather Hemmens, "Hellcats") desperately wants children, but Randal's attention is focused on the wife of his best friend Brad (Aiden Turner, "All My Children"). Just down the street, divorcee Esperanza (Zulay Henao, "Single Moms Club") is trying to move on with her life, while keeping a budding relationship with Julius (Octavio Pizano, "East Los High") a secret from her vindictive ex-husband Edward (Joel Rush, "Days of Our Lives"). Meanwhile, neighbor Kelly (Edwina Findley, "Treme") longs to marry Travis (Denzel Wells) who is away on a relief mission in Haiti and who has promised to help her raise her 8-year-old son, Justice. Outside of the neighborhood, single mother Natalie (April Parker-Jones, "Jericho") struggles to raise her children in the inner city. Lushion (Charles Malik Whitfield, "Law and Order"), the father of her son Frank, has returned to town and stepped up to the plate to help. In addition, Natalie grapples with the tough decision whether or not to allow her fourth son, Joey (Matt Cook), to return home once he is released from prison.

Throughout the season, "If Loving You Is Wrong" continues to follow Alex, Kelly, Marcie, Esperanza and Natalie on their quest to find love in the midst of managing complex lives.

Tyler Perry can churn out some TV shows and movies. I bet this show was created, shot and will be on air less than 6 months. I would rather Tyler created one great TV show than 200 garbage shows but Tyler's brand is churning garbage TV shows and movies.

I always hear people complaining about Tyler Perry but for the most part this is all they support. It's been time for black folks to shut up or put up when talking about diverse black shows and movies. All we do is talk until the next Tyler Perry movie or show and then we talk again.

If loving you is wrong, please God, help me get right?

Nooooooooo! Not another Tyler Perry production on OWN! See, here's the problem. Every black person knows the origin of the phrase "If loving you is wrong, I don't wanna be right". Well, if you don't know, check your black card at the window.

Anyway, as I was saying, I've used that phrase many times while speaking to my lady. You know, pat her on her a$$ and say "baby, i've been a fool sometimes, but if loving you is wrong, I NEVER wanna be right". Come on now, I'm in there after using Luther Ingram's ol' skool rap lines. But see, my lady love, love, LOVES her some Tyler Perry productions. In fact, just last night she was sitting in here OMGing and NO-HE-DIDN'Ting while watching The Funky Haves and the Trashy Have Nots (and she tapes every episode!). So I need a little help. I mean, I don't wanna be TOO wrong but Tyler Perry bout to break up our happy home. So if I don't find a way to stop this mess from airing on our TV, there could be another love TKO.

If a Tyler Perry Production is about to break your "happy home" ya'll have deeper problems than Television

I really hope this series is good and better than his current drama because the all-hailed "Have and Have Nots" got real dumb real quick. The once "tolerable" writing for that show died dramatically a long time ago! The failed ad-libs are excruciatingly painful to absorb and the wacky story-line is particularly and unforgivably silly! (just my two cents lol)
