Based on an "an insanely funny sketch" that aired during the 2011 BET Awards, the upcoming new BET series, The Real Husbands of Hollywood, will skewer the immensely popular Real Housewives reality TV franchise.

The primetime series will star Kevin HartRobin Thicke, J.B. Smoove, Boris Kodjoe, and Duane Martin, and will include both scripted and improvised dialogue.

Stan Lathan is directing, with 10 episodes on order.

Ralph Farquhar (the series showrunner) will exec produce with Hart, Tim Gibbons, Dave Becky, Stan Lathan and Jessie Collins

A sneak peak at the new series surfaced over the weekend, and its embedded below. I wonder how they're going to be able to stretch what was initially a single sketch, into a full TV series. We'll find out next spring, when it's scheduled to make its debut:

WHY JB Smoove--WHYYYYY??? Ugh! I guess I'm just gonna have to ignore when he's on the screen/in a scene, eh?!

HIT-HIT-HIT, this has HUGE hit written all over it. For those wondering how this can transition to full 30 minute episodes, I believe it's very simple. If one remembers the BET sketch, it was based on a group of guys who were comfortable kicking with each other while talking about their women. That puts me in the mindset of barbershop conversations. And we all know the barbershop is poppin' every day. Just like the orignal sketch, it's the good ol'boys (in this case, rich black men) private club house. Remember Bobby Brown was saying how he was the first... ah... lets say "mack", who threw his pole into the waters of rich black women and pulled out a STAR. That's new and fresh material right there. Now each of the scheduled actors have their own black beauties (stars) in which loads of material can spring from that concept. Like are they "dragging" off, gaining fame off or spending their women's money. Now y'all know brothas can crack on each other for days about that. And like Bobby, some have no problem saying their woman is the real star and the real bread winner... c'mon now. And check this, J.B. Smoove is an ugly brother so I know jokes mammy can be bounced off his ugly funny talkin' ass. Plus, they're going to let the brothas ad-lib! Now that's one reason why Cedric The Entertainer's new series is not funny. They don't let Cedric be Cedric... doing what he does in a natural flow. He's funny as hell when he's comfortable, but he's stale as hell when he's reading lines. And just think, Robin Thicke is a white guy, so y'all know there's gotta be some laughs and jokes about white guys taking all the "good" black women. C'mon now, y'all know it's true :-). Plus, given that we've seen Kevin Hart carry movies, this is right in his wheelhouse... if the director does not give him too much rope (he can, at times, be quite silly and over-the-top). And Boris Kodjoe is the perfect straight man. He doesn't have to be funny ( think Sidney Poitier in Uptown Saturday Night & Lets Do It Again) he just has to look good and say a few lines while acting innocent. Heck, I wish I was the writer or director of this series. There's just too much material and so many ways to go for this not to be an hilarious hit. I think I should write the producers to see if they could use a guest writer?

Seriously, though... this one could be for the win. Robin Thicke? Brilliant!

Like Tambay I also wonder how they are going to make 10 episodes out of this. Will they be full 30 minute episodes or between commercial segments? The rest of the actors have comedic talent, including Robin Thicke. Boris Kodjoe is the only actor on this show that I am not sure about.

Boris just needs to go away...away from acting that is.

Is anyone EVER sure of Boris Kodjoe?

"I wonder how they're going to be able to stretch what was initially a single sketch, into a full TV series." I was thinking more along the lines of 'The Office' type humor when I saw the sneak peak. I think it could work.
