Fox has released a fall preview of their new Sci-Fi show Sleepy Hollow, described as a modern day re-telling of Washington Irving's classic, from co-creators/executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Star Trek and Transformers franchises, Fringe).

The pilot has been screening in several cities after debuting at Comic Con earlier this summer, and ahead of its premiere on the network Monday, September 16 at 9/8c pm. Reviews have been mostly positive so far, especially when it comes to the chemistry of its main stars Tom Mison and Nicole Beharie. With Beharie in the lead - as well as Orlando Jones - I'm certainly looking forward to this show.

And maybe you should too! Expect an episode recap/talk back post on the site after the show's premiere.

In the mystery-adventure drama, Ichabod Crane (Mison) resurrects from the Revolutionary war over two and a half centuries ago and into the present day. With the help of detective Abbie Mills (Beharie), who's initially reluctant to believe the outlandish story, the unlikely duo set out to track down a headless horseman, who is one of the four men in the apocalypse and now on a murderous rampage in the modern-day town of Sleepy Hollow.

There's much more to it, and yes, it seems quite far-fetched to say the least, but use your imagination will ya?

Orlando Jones plays Captain Irving, Sleepy Hollow's head of police who isn't buying any of it.

In the promo below, Beharie and Jones talk more about the show, and you will see some new footage throughout.

I'll definitely check it out. Hopefully it doesn't bore me to tears like Grimm or get incredibly stupid like Once Upon A Time. These concepts are always fun, but the execution can be tough.

Although it is visually appealing, it appears to be just another Scandal spinoff. Hollywood is always trying to find another hit using the same formula, i.e. Have and Have Nots, the NBC show with Megan Good, and Person of Interest, to name a few. I am happy to see sistas getting their due, but I wish we could do it in a more diverse approach. But who knows, this may become a standout on its own merit. It definitely looks better than most of the junk I have seen so far coming out this fall.

So...the formula you seem to dislike is black women in leading roles. Better that they remain the best friend or sassy government worker/nurse/receptionist, huh?

Please tell me what about this show is similiar to Scandal? Let me answer that. NOTHING. You obviously don't know what this show is about if you are comparing it to Scandal. Scandal is a soap, this is a sci-fiction show. Two completely different genres. This show doesn't even have a love story. You are also unfamiliar with the sci-fiction genre because if you were, you would know that casting women of color is nothing new, goes all the way back to the original Star Trek and has nothing to do with Scandal. The tradition has continued with Star Gate Atlantis, Misfits (UK show), BattleStar Galactica, Eureka-which starred Salli Richardson and many others. So please stop with your Scandal comparison, it is incorrect.

I'll be a'watchin'. I will be FOREVER in your debt S&A for introducing me to Nicole Beharie in earlier posts. She is REALLY talented (Proof: APARTMENT 4E, ayyyunnnnnnnd AMERICAN VIOLET). I'm glad Fox isn't hiding her from the promos as was done initially (til we pitched a FIT) to Taraji P. Henson by PERSON OF INTEREST("whaaat? SHE'S on that show?!"). I would like to see how far they can stretch this plot premise though. Kinda like GRIMM but with only ONE creature. ijs

I'll be tuning in! I think Nicole Beharie is gorgeous and talented. The new Ironside with Blair Underwood is another must see for me (though I will always fondly remember Raymond Burr as Ironside, and that fine as wine and just my kind Don Mitchell). Oh, and also Crisis with Lance Gross. Of course I'll be checking out Scandal too. After a serious lack of shows with minorities in the lead or having a prominent supporting role, this season looks promising.

I love Nicole and I will be tuning in as well.

I am so excited for this one. There is uspenseful storyline. Nicole is beautiful as usual. Mison is hot. Orlando Bloom is definitely the right person for the Captain. I will definitely be tuning in.

Sorry, I love Jones and Beharie, but this sounds like it would make one of those So-Bad-It's-Good movies released in January. I just don't see how they could stretch this plot into a TV series, especially one that plans to span more than one season.
