YES! As already announced on S&A, the African-American Film Festival Releasing Movement acquired U.S. theatrical rights to 2011 Sundance Film Festival Official Selection, Andrew Dosunmu's Restless City

The film will debut in NY, LA, and ATL on April 27, and then expand to Philly, Seattle, Detroit, Chicago and Washington DC on May 4.

Tambay has been a champion of this film since he saw it at Sundance last year. I haven't seen it and am really looking forward to this release thanks to The African-American Film Festival Releasing Movement.

So I'm very excited about this new full trailer.

Restless City tells the story of young, nomadic Senegalese immigrant, Djbirl (played by Sy Alassane), an aspiring musician, struggling to survive on the fringes of New York City. When he falls in love with a prostitute (Jamaican-born model/actress Nicole Grey) who works for Bekay, the local loan shark, he suddenly finds some much needed meaning and purpose to his otherwise aimless existence, forcing him to make decisions that eventually prove fatal.

If you haven't read Tambay's review, do so HERE.

Here's the film's first full trailer as promised last month (and it's nice to see S&A get a quote mention in there):

I think AFFRM is turning into something special and significant. This is a beautiful trailer for beautiful film. I thought this project was never going to see the light of day. I saw it at AFI Fest in the fall and it is sensational. I like that it is getting the attention it deserves. I hope we will support this movie so that many more movies like this will be able to follow through these doors and get made and get distribution. It is good to see our people working together.

I worship the soil Andrew Dosunmu & Bradford Young, walk &create upon...Their filmmaking is light years ahead of their peers. We're all just playing in the dust specs &light flares they left behind.
