Well, look what we have here...

Greenlit earlier this year by TBS, here's your first look at the new Tyler Perry-created and produced sitcom series For Better Or Worse.

Based on TP's Why Did I Get Married? films (at first plays), For Better Or Worse (that's Tyler Perry's For Better Or Worse) will follow "the ups-and-downs of married life for Marcus and Angela, characters who originated in the features Why Did I Get Married and Why Did I Get Married Too?"

In the films, the pair was played by Michael Jai White and Tasha Smith, and both actors will also star in the upcoming TV series.

Production happened over the summer at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta.

Series premieres on TBS on November 23rd.

Here's a preview... Are you excited? :D

Well, now that I've watched it... who's ready to take a swim in the Fountain of Coonery this fall?

    @Carey

"So Cherish, your credibility card IS on probation."

Damn. LOL. had to be honest though.
something about BBWs that just suckers me in.

But Tasha's screaming "MARCUS" come on, that just raises the blood pressure.

  • CareyCarey | September 1, 2011 1:25 AMReply

“Watch, it will be a hit”

“I’ll probably check out the pilot episode for curiosities sake”

“ and it will be a major hit”

“it will be a success whether yall look at it or not. lol”

“LEAVE TP ALONE IF YOU DON’T LIKE THE MAN STOP REPORTING HIS PROJECTS JUST TO MAKE FUN OF HIM!”

    “Different Strokes for Different Folks”

NOW WE’RE TALKIN’! There’s nothing I like more than the voices of wisdom. I mean, the above quotes were music to my ear, but I see some of our friends are still smelling their own upper lips. Shouldn’t they be trying to emulate Tyler Perry? I’ve said this before, they should be concentrating on each particular - small- element of is finished products, and not stay stuck on what they perceive as his fault. I mean, when they do that - stay stuck on mess - they take their eyes off the prize.

Heck, can we talk marketing? Tyler’s fans knew exactly when his newest releases (play and movie) were hitting the shelves b/c he told them via personal e-mails. Hey, I have the play in my hand b/c my lady loves her some Tyler Perry. Yep, I’m gonna laugh when my funny bone tells me to laugh and I don’t care what upper crust snobs say.

But in the end, what would the world be like without the following bright and level headed voices leading the way?

“And something tells me he sends out these negative images of Black women because he is a closeted homesexual”

    Really
    ..................

“Who the hell wants to hang around, a bitter, angry, emasculating woman?

I don’t, but it’s true, there are thousands of angry, bitter and loud black women, and plenty of men waiting to be their babies daddy.
    ........................
“I am so tired of him and these stories of Black women being done wrong by the Black man. I know absolutely no one who behaves in this manner. This is a complete work of fiction because women, just wont deal”

Really?! No one. notta?! Uuuuummm, must live on the moon or in a convent.
    ......................
Finally Cherish said: “To tune in to that shrill and fighting week after week, that’s not cool. Couldn’t subject myself that. Then again, I do watch Basketball Wives..
(damn I just killed my credibility here, huh?)”

Now Cherish, you got me crackin’ up over here. Let me tell you, I just happen to turn on their special year ending highlight show, hosted by John Smiley, and lord have mercy. them b*tches (that’s what they called themselves and each other “bit*ches and ho’s) they were scandalous! Tyler Perry ain’t got nothing on them tramps. So Cherish, your credibility card IS on probation. *lol*

  • brandi | August 31, 2011 12:50 PMReply

Oh god and he's getting a whole network.

  • Dankwa Brooks | August 31, 2011 11:46 AMReply

At least it doesn’t have a studio audience. *dankshrug*

  • Neziah | August 31, 2011 11:19 AMReply

LOL! These comments are hilarious, but I definitely agree, this show looks bad judging from the trailer. I'll probably check out the pilot episode for curiosities sake and then bail. I wish Michael Jai White went ahead and did "Blood and Bone 2" or "Black Dynamite 2" instead of this.

  • whateverLOLA | August 31, 2011 11:05 AMReply

    uhm NO! *walks away*

  • Ash | August 31, 2011 8:20 AMReply

This actually looks better to me than his other two shows that are already on TBS. More chance for funny. But still, it's a Tyler Perry show.

  • Tynicka | August 31, 2011 6:20 AMReply

Mena, unfortunately he has PLENTY of people. That's the problem.

  • DLegend89 | August 31, 2011 6:16 AMReply

    Oh, boy...(sigh)

  • Mena | August 31, 2011 4:51 AMReply

Yay? Oh now yay? How bout, booooooooooo!

I am so tired of him and these stories of Black women being done wrong by the Black man. I know absolutely no one who behaves in this manner. This is a complete work of fiction because women, just wont deal. Tyler Perry is a well paid coon. Set up to present derisive and ignorant stereotypes about Black people.

And something tells me he sends out these negative images of Black women because he is a closeted homesexual. Well, maybe not so closeted. A Black manthat loves Black women approaches his counter part with love and understanding, not cardboard "she loud and crass" cut outs. Tyler Perry, you need more people

  • ezwriter | August 31, 2011 3:41 AMReply

    um.....Worse.

  • writer | August 31, 2011 3:22 AMReply

Watch, it will be a hit.

As a black woman, I really wish there was some variety in the way we are portrayed on screen.

At least the Manic PIxie Dream Girl is someone people want to be around. Who the hell wants to hang around, a bitter, angry, emasculating woman?

  • Darkan | August 31, 2011 2:50 AMReply

*Staring at the screen with my eyes wide open in disbelief of what I just saw*

  • Darla & Mark | August 31, 2011 1:46 AMReply

it will be a success whether yall look at it or not. lol

  • BluTopaz | August 31, 2011 1:41 AMReply

The irony with the TP phenomenon is that many of his fans call his critics elitist, but people like TP think that always showing attractive Black people in pretty clothes with beautiful homes/cars is that aspiring middle class progress your new writer Andre mentioned in his post. Nevermind decent dialogues/plots/acting, we got Tasha and Jai hollering & carrying on in that bad ass house with them fly clothes on! We ain't never seen Black folks living large like that before!

I could only suffer thru half of this "trailer", it's like a skit of a bad soap opera and it will be a major hit.

  • AfroStyling | August 31, 2011 1:38 AMReply

how about this guy just invest in talented folks and stop with the one dimensional and stereotypical depictions of black people?

  • Ghost | August 31, 2011 1:08 AMReply

TBS is going to pull the plug on this one!

And BET will be right there to get it.

All that yelling?? Al and Peg Bundy hated each other but at least they didn't try to kill each other or fight that much.

Somebody call the producers of Men of a Certain Age-they might want to call TBS again. They might have a slot after 10 episodes of this.

  • sandra | August 30, 2011 12:24 PMReply

I just wanted to punch TP when he turned to the camera.

That trailer elevated my blood pressure. All that shouting and violence is too over-the-top and feeds negative stereotypes.

Can't imagine watching this mess on a weekly basis.

  • Laura | August 30, 2011 11:24 AMReply

    Ummm.

Is there only going to be yelling, hitting, and storming in and out of rooms.

    I'll definitely pass on this.

  • Dywayne | August 30, 2011 10:48 AMReply

    hoping for success.....

  • Looksprettygood | August 30, 2011 9:58 AMReply

    Different Strokes for Different Folks.

  • Sayitlikeiseeit | August 30, 2011 7:46 AMReply

Well the trailer is cut bad. Looks to be a lot of bad and overacting....AGAIN....The story line is a good one but when the acting is suspect well there goes your story. Tasha Smith only strong suit as an actress is yelling and screaming...don't know if the audience can take that. Goes to show you that there is a reason why you don't rush things or else the work comes out shabby. Oh and one other note to tyler, fine, cute, sexy, and gorgeous people don't make good actors all the time, only good actors make good actors. You should try that some time.

  • Cherish | August 30, 2011 7:37 AMReply

The problem with this couple which you can see (from the movies) is that Marcus is a dog, and has done dirt in the past that makes him untrustworthy.

But Angela is made to be the Black shrew, shrill and violent. Honestly, I think I would be going batsh*t too dealing with him LOL.

But anyone who brings out that much anger in you and who you feel you can no longer trust is someone you should leave. And I hate to know that I can make someone that angry at me.

That's not the "ups-and-downs of married life." That's one step away from murder-suicide.

To tune in to that shrill and fighting week after week, that's not cool. Couldn't subject myself that.

Then again, I do watch Basketball Wives..
(damn I just killed my credibility here, huh?)

  • Vio12 | August 30, 2011 7:29 AMReply

Lawd Jesus........30 minutes of Tasha Smith hollering & screaming??? I called it when this was first announced! And I agree with Chinedu: It probably would have come off a lot better if the trailer itself wasn't so poor. And a shirtless Michael Jai White to boot.....shocking!!!

  • Ashley | August 30, 2011 7:19 AMReply

    Excited? Not in the least.

  • sonny | August 30, 2011 7:13 AMReply

LEAVE TP ALONE IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE MAN STOP REPORTING HIS PROJECTS JUST TO MAKE FUN OF HIM!

  • Chinedu | August 30, 2011 7:02 AMReply

Whether or not the show is good remains to be seen. The problem here is that the trailer is not cut well. They didn't do a good job with this.

  • ???? | August 30, 2011 6:50 AMReply

    This is just sad!!!

  • reshae | January 16, 2012 2:26 PM

    Who is it sad.

TBS is going to pull the plug on this one!
