Fans of the British sci-fi series Doctor Who and its spinoff Torchwood are facing the news of the pending American "remake" of the latter with mixed feelings (I know I am). I watched the teaser for the series this morning, and I must say it doesn't look bad. I'm intrigued enough to actually watch it.

John Barrowman will be reprising his role as the flirtatious and hard-to-kill Jack Harkness, along with Torchwood alum Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper. New to the line up is Bill Pullman as Oswald Danes, Mekhi Phifer as Rex Matheson (yes, a black man named Rex). Watch the teaser trailer below.

Nice. It looks like the move to the U.S. has done wonders for this show. The production values are NOTICEABLY higher. I'm looking forward to it.

I do realize it's torchwood. I don't know why I have that unwanted "u" in there.

It's not a remake of a British show. In Season 3 of Tourchwood; "Children of Earth" the Tourchwood hub in Cardiff was destroyed. The next move was to start up somewhere else. i.e. America.
I think some of the show was still filmed in Cardiff, after all that's where the rift is located.

Looks promising. I hope it doesn't turn out like the new Doctor Who in America episodes. They're not nearly as interesting as they were before ... or maybe I just still miss David Tennant.

    I stand corrected. :)

This isn't a remake of TORCHWOOD. It literally is Torchwood joining up with the FBI, because this "event" is global. In reality, it's trying to pollinate the show over here. I didn't think much of Mekhi being cast in this, because I wasn't feeling him on LIE TO ME, but this looks pretty damn fun & he looks great.

Hope it does well...need more brothas named "Rex" on shows LOL

Shaun, an American misfits will probably fail woefully considering how much sex and killing goes on on that show. Too bad about Robert Sheehan leaving the show. makes no sense whatsoever.

@Afrostyling-I will probably lose it if I see an American version of Misfits. I would not count this Torchwood as a remake. It is just the 4th season.
This 'Torchwood in America' does not look half bad. I will give it a go.

Whats unusual about a black man named Rex? I started watching the British version but lost track. Might check this since it appears to be on Starz. It says something about the level of American original programming if they keep remaking British shows. Whats next? American version of "misfits"?
