Not really sure what to make of this trailer for a film called Herpes Boy, which Octavia Spencer from The Help co-stars in.

Originally a YouTube web series, the film, which has won a number of awards on the film festival circuit, including Best Comedy at the 2010 Comic-Con, centers on "a loser with a facial birthmark (not herpes) who accidentally becomes famous on the web."

The film is now available On Demand on most cable providers, as well as iTunes, Amazon.com, Xbox, Playstation, and will soon also be available on Netflix.

Anybody happen to catch it yet?

Wait a minute, I seriously don't get it. Please, somebody tell me what Octavia did wrong? I mean, I resisted watching the clip because I was expecting some kind of Flip Wilson's "Geraldine" or Hattie McDaniel and Butterfly McQueen with a mammie rag on her head.

Lets see, she opened her eyes wide and what? So every black person that widens thier eyes is Mantan's wife? If that's the case, many of us better start doing the chicken scratch and let our big lips hang to the floor.

Now i kinda feel bad--Octavia actually has a cute face and pretty hair. I get that she does comedy, but stuff like this always reminds me Hollywood Shuffle--is the director shouting 'more Mantan, Octavia!' or is she popping her eyes on her own cuz she thinks it's what's expected? She was also in a surprsingly good comedy where her character was fat, sassy, oversexed and her Black conservative husband called her out on it out of embarassment, can't recall the name.

Can the woman help that she has bug eyes? NO! lol

Also, @jeremy, that scene was ridiculous all over and not in a good way or good look for any of those "schmucks". lol

unfortunately i recently came across the movie dinner for shmucks, and if you think that picture of her recalls minstrelsy, check out the dinner scene in that movie and watch her really get it in. :-(

YIKES! This is 2011 right? Not 1931 right?

Just goes to prove what I've always believed that there are some black folks in the world who are cursed with a "cooning" gene. They can't help it. They were born with it

That picture of Octavia... Wow... Anybody else having flashback memories of old black and white films during the racist comedies of America starring and including black people? SMDH.
