Making its official premiere at the documentary film festival DOC NYC, taking place now, is the revealing documentary I Want My Name Back, a film spotlighting the identity theft struggles of members of the old school rap group The Sugarhill Gang.

Directed by Roger Paradiso, the film chronicles their journey as they try to reclaim their identities as the original group members.

Here's a brief synopsis:

Whatever happened to The Sugarhill Gang? After scoring a mega-hit with “Rapper’s Delight,” the band’s creative leaders Master Gee and Wonder Mike became the victims of nightmare contracts. They lost their income and even their names. Twenty-five years later, they set out to reclaim their identities and place in hip-hop history, going up against ruthless adversaries in the music business.

The film screens November 5th and 8th. Go HERE for more info and ticket purchase.
