It shouldn't be news that Zoe Saldana wants to get behind the camera and direct. We've told you that a few times - most recently in May, when it was announced that she would be directing episodes of Vin Diesel's new web series with Fox, titled The Ropes - an original web series about the lives of bouncers. She also mentioned that she was in the running to direct a film in Montreal, though she was greedy with the details.
But before she hits the big time with feature films, Ms Saldana makes her directorial debut helming one of the films that make up the Glamour Reel Moments short film series, which is aimed at increasing the number of women directors in Hollywood.
Zoe joins Olivia Wilde and Eva Longoria, also be making their directorial debuts, working with established industry actors.
Stories? The films are based on 3 of the many thousands of stories submitted by Glamour magazine's readers, with themes of empowerment, wisdom and beauty standards. .
All 3 shorts premiered in Los Angeles last night (October 24) at the Director's Guild Theater, and are now available online for the rest of the world to see at GlamourReelMoments.com beginning today, October 25.
Zoe's short is titled Kaylien.
Kaylien is the new kid at school. The one the other kids like to bully - maybe it's because she's different or special or... an alien life form forced to live in the human society? See the world through her eyes, as she takes on the 4th grade in this heartwarming tale from director Zoe Saldana.
The film stars Bradley Cooper, Malin Ackermann, Judy Reyes, Isabella Acres, and Kelli Barksdale.
You'll have to head over to Glamour to watch it; no embedding allowed. I could just extract the file and upload elsewhere, but I'm sure I'll get one of those threatening "cease and desist" emails fro Glamour attorneys, so I won't :)
