Think Like A Man

It’s been a pretty slow weekend for news. No one is doing anything of note. But at least we still have the weekend box office report and, no surprise, The Avengers came out on top of the box office weekend figures, making over $100 million, and has now passed the $1 billion gross mark worldwide. The film is now the 11th highest grossing film of all time, worldwide, and will only go further up on the list. But it still has a way to go before beating the top two, Avatar and Titanic. Damn that James Cameron!

Dark Shadows underperformed, but was anyone really interested in seeing it? Maybe people are just tired of Johnny Depp doing his mascara-wearing weirdo bit. Getting kinda old. Problem is when he plays a more “normal” person like in The Tourist. no one wants to see that either. Whatcha gonna do?

But Think Like A Man had a much smaller drop off than expected, hanging on to No.3 with $82 million so far, becoming Rainforest Films’ biggest hit to date; and it looks like the film could possibility hit the $100 million mark.

1) The Avengers $103.2M Total: $373.2M
2) Dark Shadows $28.8M
3) Think Like a Man $6.3M Total: $82M
4) The Hunger Games $$4.4M Total: $387M
5) The Lucky One $4.05M Total: $53.7M
6) The Pirates! Band of Misfits $3.2M Total: $23.1M
7) The Five-Year Engagement $3.1M Total:$24.4M
8) The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel $2.65M Total:$3.72M
9) Chimpanzee $1.62M Total:$25.6M
10) Girl in Progress $1.35M

Have faith, Believe or not Black films will make huge come back and be the dominant profit source, there are lots of Blacks being done, slowly but being done, and the low budgets are not at all a bad thing cause it takes a $250 Million dollar film by white Hollywood to make their profit marks and flood more than 2 thousand theaters, we put out a film that has a budget of $13 Million and less and we have awesome box office for the return on the dollar. Hollywood is going flat broke, so they only one choice but to make films that poor in story tons of CGI and make it so generic that it will appeal to a mas audience. But that's kinda like mass hypnosis. We Black folk just stay with the plan and make excellent well written stories that have a diverse cast in terms of people of color and we as Independents are the true flag holders of Cinema.
Remember Hollywood was in this kind of deep trouble before and they created the Black Exploitation films directed by white directors with all black cast and they saved Hollywood's ass, well we are a lot smarter this time around and that situation is coming again for them but we will not fall for it again. !!!

The budget for "Think Like a Man" was 13 million... It's done REALLY well! I'm so glad!

Anyone know what the budget was for Think Like A man?

I love a good blockbuster, but Avengers is as generic and mindless as they come. So a toast... to more of the same coming your way. Proving that thin plot + camp + effects + marketing = dollars.

Personal note: whenever I'm in a library that's in a black neighborhood, I tend to overhear people asking if the Think Like a Man book is available. I guess Steve Harvey might have to write another book, which will then become another successful movie!

It's funny, I wonder who's all the people seeing Think like a man being that white Hollywood says that films with black people in them don't make any money.

I think Tyler Perry showed them many times before this that it's not true, but still it's not as a proven formula as Hollywood would want it to be.
