10 days ago, soon after Wesley Snipes was released from prison after serving a 3 year sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution in Pennsylvania, I posted an entry looking at potential projects on his to-do list that he might first tackle.

One of them was The Expendables 3, which, last summer, producer Avi Lerner, in an interview with Total Film, revealed that Snipes had been approached (while he was still in prison) to join the cast of that film. Lerner didn't say whether it was a done deal however, so we didn't know with certainty whether Snipes would be involved in the movie, which currently has a tentative 2014 release date, with much of the cast from the last Expendables film returning for a 3rd time.

Will Wesley do it? It looks that way, as our friends at Twitch (and other film sites) are reporting that Snipes is officially in the movie, and star Sylvester Stallone shared the news on Twitter over the weekend that he'd like Mel Gibson to direct the film.

The Mel Gibson part isn't a definite yet however; but it looks like Wesley is indeed in, which is great!

I figured he'd jump at the opportunity to co-star in a high-profile project like this, with all these other stars, especially as a first project right out of prison; but who knows. The film doesn't have a shoot start date yet, so stay tuned. But with today's news, he should be able to fit it into his schedule - he's on house arrest until July 19.

I think it will be nice if he takes a negative role as in Demolition Man

This brother was in prison, and was still securing roles.

Smart move, Wes. Building relationships across the action world. Stallone and Van Damme revisited their most famous franchises--Rocky, Rambo, Universal Soldier--to great result.

I hope he does it. I also hope he does another BLADE film and continues to seek out original material. Go Wesley go!
