Yaani King - an actress who S&A readers would recognize from web series like RoomieLoverFriends, Milk & Honey, as well as Matthew Cherry's feature film debut The Last Fall), has landed a series regular role on Lifetime’s upcoming new drama Deliverance Creekfrom Nicholas Sparks Prods.

In what will be a two-hour movie/backdoor pilot, set at the end of the American Civil War, Deliverance Creek follows a young woman's attempts to defend her family’s land by any means necessary, even if it means becoming an outlaw.

The series will star Lauren Ambrose, as the young woman.

Yaani King will play a character named Kessiah “Kessie” Washington, who's described as a plantation slave who forges her own freedom papers, and then sets out for the place called Deliverance Creek, intent on also saving her family from slavery.

King's resume includes lots of TV work, including stints on Saving Grace and Numbers.

I better not hear anybody complaining about 'slave films.' This sounds interesting. I'm curious to see what kind of story this girl will have. Will she be married, have a lover, family dynamics, all of it!!

Love Yaani, love Lauren. Don't have the highest expectations since it's Lifetime, but I'll definitely check it out.
