Thsoe of you in the Los Angeles area... if you haven't seen Victoria Mahoney's impressive and, dare I say, *controversial* (given some of the reactions to it I read as it toured the film festival circuit) feature film debut, Yelling To The Sky, you will have an opportunity to do so when it screens (twice) at the upcoming Pan African Film Festival which starts next week!
And I know there are some of you out there who have been itching to see it, if the emails I've received over the last several months is of any indication ("when will Yelling To The Sky be released in theaters?"). Correct me if I'm wrong, but this will be its first screening in LA, right Angelinos?
The film's cast includes star Zoë Kravitz , Antonique Smith, Gabourey Sidibe, Tim Blake Nelson, Jason Clarke, Yolonda Ross, Shareeka Epps, and others.
I saw it at the Gen Art Film Festival last June, and reviewed it soon thereafter, calling it the cinematic equivalent of Miles Davis' Bitches Brew; you can read my thoughts HERE.
Make up your own mind by seeing it at the PAFF when it screens on 2/17 at 9:30pm and on 2/19 at 8pm.
