Here's a casting call for a project announced last night... Spike Lee's teaming with writer John Ridley, Doug Ellin (creator of Entourage) and Mike Tyson to produce a drama series project for HBO titled Da Brick, loosely inspired by Mike Tyson’s youth, set in present-day Newark, NJ, to be scripted by Ridley, directed by Spike.

Just got this info online. If there's any spot I'm available. I'm a writer/actor/director. I just directed/produced/wrote and acted on first project: Doritos Crash The Super Bowl contest 2011.

Sigh. Way to get it backwards again, Spike. Pick the BEST ACTOR who looks right for the part. If that actor has little to no boxing experience so what? That is what training is for.
The casting call does not ask for actors. It asks for boxers. It is one thing to go that route for a two hour movie. But if you want someone to be a lead player for a TV series that you hope will last multiple seasons, then you should pursue an actual actor who can carry a role over that stretch of time.
Is John Ridley the only working black male writer in TV?

Maybe they are casting contenders so far I don't think they are casting leads right now they probably already have one. I think they are just casting young black males for the "opponent" role.
