Congrats to Zawe Ashton and Carol Morley for their British Independent Film Awards nominations; Ashton in the Most Promising Newcomer category, although, as Emmnanuel argued in a previous post (HERE), Ashton's been around a bit to be called a newcomer at this point; and the film Ashton was nominated for (critically-acclaimed docu-drama Dreams of a Life) was nominated in the Best Documentary category.

The Pre-Selection Committee of 70 members viewed nearly 200 films, out of which they selected the nominations, which were decided by ballot.

The winners of The Moët British Independent Film Awards are decided by an independent jury comprised of leading professionals and talent from the British film industry (John Boyega was one of them).

The winners will be announced at the much anticipated 15th awards ceremony which will be hosted by actor and BIFA Patron, James Nesbitt, on Sunday, December 9, at the Old Billingsgate in London.
