Via their production company Saldana Productions, Zoe Saldana and her sister Cisley Saldana, have teamed up with Jane Startz Productions and Aida Bernal’s Spellbound Entertainment to bring the mystery/thriller novel Hell Or High Water (the debut novel from Joy Castro) to the screen, although it's not determined as to whether it'll be a feature film for the big screen, or a TV series.

What's Hell Or High Water about? Here's Amazon's description of the novel:

Nola Céspedes, an ambitious young reporter at the Times-Picayune, finally catches a break: an assignment to write her first full-length feature. While investigating her story, she also becomes fixated on the search for a missing tourist in the French Quarter. As Nola’s work leads her into a violent criminal underworld, she’s forced to face disturbing truths from her own past and is confronted with the question: In the aftermath of devastation, who is responsible for rebuilding what's been broken?

Saldana will likely star as Nola, in what is being called a haunting, fast-paced, atmospheric, thriller with a knockout twist, with an unforgettable heroine as fascinating and multilayered as New Orleans itself.

Anyone read the book? It was published in July of this year, so it's still relatively new. If you've read it, thoughts?

I anticipate an S&A book-to-film report on it eventually.

Up next for Zoe Saldana is J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness, which is out on May 17, 2013.

And of course, we'll also be seeing her as Nina Simone in Cynthia Mort's project.
