Watch the Only "Nightmare on Elm Street" Remakes You Need

By Christopher Campbell | Spout July 26, 2010 at 6:21AM

I haven't seen the recent Platinum Dunes remake of "A Nightmare on Elm Street," and I'm therefore unlikely to see any subsequent installments of the rebooted franchise. The only thing that might get me to see them is if Leonardo DiCaprio shows up for a meta cameo that more directly ties together Freddy Krueger, "Shutter Island" and "Inception." Seeing as that's never going to happen, I'll just settle for this video titled "A Nightmare on Elm Street in 10 Minutes," which comes from the DVD of the recently released documentary "Never Sleep Again - The Elm Street Legacy."

It presents all six original "Elm Street" films plus "New Nightmare" and "Jason vs. Freddy" in a rapid succession of quotes recited and partly restaged by original cast members, including Heather Langenkamp, Robert Englund, Lisa Wilcox and Wes Craven. Unfortunately they couldn't Johnny Depp to participate, which is especially sad given his minor cameo in "The Final Nightmare." Also missed are Patricia Arquette, Tom Arnold and Roseanne. There are plenty of other absent actors that I'm not realizing, too, but at least Alice Cooper is in there.

See what all your favorite "Elm Street" stars look like decades later after the jump.

If I do decide to check out the official remake, I'll have a chance when it hits DVD and Blu-ray October 5th. Can anyone vouch for it being more or at least close to as entertaining as the above video?
