Friday-Sunday
We spent last night with my aunt and uncle in Metamora. We all drove into Peoria for dinner at a great Irish place near the water.
We had to return equipment in Chicago by 1, so we pulled out around 10. We made it to Fletcher a little late, but no biggie. We dropped off the equipment and made it into downtown to check into our posh reward to ourselves for completing this phase of the film Hotel 71. We arrived before check in and sat in the lounge waiting for 3 o’clock to roll around. Finally got into the room. Awesome! A corner room on the 30th floor overlooking downtown. By being on the corner, we had 2 walls of windows. It’s the first time we’ve stayed in a “boutique” hotel where everything has design taken into account. It was very refreshing despite the extra $$$.
This would be the 4th hotel in 8 days. They all start to blend together after a while. Through most of our travels, we’ve been staying at Comfort Inns. They’re a part of Choice Hotels International and through the AIVF, we receive a 20% discount. Their mid-priced fare fits our mid-priced pockets and recent renovations make them for the most part, nice places.
Spent a lot of time walking around Chicago’s downtown and shorelines both Saturday and Sunday. Chicago’s great, but once you live in New York, nothing is really that impressive. Sorry, but it’s true.
We flew out of O’Hare around 1 and got back to Brooklyn by 7. A total success in travel.
