Monday, October 11th Sunday, October 31st

It’s been a while since I’ve updated and this may be a lengthy entry for that reason. We were very overwhelmed getting ready to travel to Colorado Springs to interview the Vice President of International Ministries, Bob Fetherlin of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. Luci has been working quite a bit keeping food on our table and paying bills and we’ve had a succession of visitors on top of it all.

So a brief recap. This was going to be another trip involving 3 cities in under a week’s time, so planning was a bit intense. We had a lead on some equipment that fell through at the last minute due to misunderstandings, but we were saved by a phone call and a friends favor the day before we left (thanks Clark!). We flew with Frontier Air from LaGuardia to Denver, rented an Isuzu Rodeo and drove to pick up the equipment. All checked out fine and we drove to Colorado Springs and checked into the hotel. Directly across the street was a large Goodwill store and Luci and I couldn’t resist a little bargain shopping.

An old friend of mine, Pete Verchick drove down to help with the interview. We went to dinner and went back to the room for last minute amendments to the questions and a quick drill to familiarize Pete with the equipment. My nerves were fried and it was difficult to sleep. Although the church hadn’t given me any real reason to be nervous, I was. We had no idea how it might all go down.

We woke up and got ready and had a quick bite to eat. We swung through Kinko’s and printed the new questions and drove to the church’s corporate headquarters down the road. We were met by Peter Burgo who had set up the interview for us as well as a few other staff members who would be present during the interview. We set up for the interview and they took us to lunch at a nearby Italian restaurant. It was a little awkward, but tolerable. They seemed genuinely interested in us and the food was delicious. My nerves began to calm down.

We returned to the location and began the interview. In the end, Luci and I both feel Bob was open and honest in his responses and the footage will cut nicely with the other interviews. As it stands, we can cut together a complete film now. After we shot some B-roll exteriors, we all headed out of Colorado Springs back to Denver to return the equipment. We got there by 6 and checked it all back in without a hitch.

The next 4 days and 3 nights were spent relaxing with Pete and another old friend of ours, G.J. in Ft. Collins. The weather was great and we saw some of the local nightlife and went trout fishing. We caught 4 small ones and Pete landed the biggest for a total of 5. They made for an awesome dinner.

We got back to New York late Monday night and I immediately fell sick for the remainder of the week. Today is the first day I have been able to concentrate enough to get any work done. In the meantime, Luci has caught us up on transcribing and we’re getting our computer prepped to begin editing!
