We’ve finally settled into our new space and absolutely love it.
We had a real big scare when finally hooking up the computer and all our drives. We had been so careful with moving all the hard drives (literally carrying them in our arms), but somehow a file was corrupted that held all the After Effects files for the ˝ hour cut. Fortunately, Avid had made copies of the files as they were imported and we were able to re-cut the beginning and dump out the newer version. Unfortunately, since I’m unable to go back to the original After Effects files to edit them for future cuts, all that work is lost. Very sad and frustrating, but it could have been worse.
On a happier note, we were recently gifted a bunch of software that will make editing so much easier. I ordered more RAM and a faster graphics card last week. Once installed, we’ll get our new software bundle in and start working on a feature length work in progress. I’m looking forward to editing again, but the chosen length and the amount of material are daunting.
While we edit, we are going to begin coordinating a few crucial scenes needed to complete the film and try to stretch our limited funds to produce them. The ˝ hour cut is in the hands of few key people who could help us tremendously, but as of yet, no word back.
A couple of fellow filmmakers have had good breaks recently and we’re hoping for the best for them. One has been selected for the Radziwill grant and the other has made the 1st cut for the Jerome grant.
