Getting On the Other Side of the Camera

This weekend's show turns the camera on the crew (including myself). We took our time, did a lot of improv and really had a blast making it. Everybody did such a great job, but my favorite is Katie Ainslie's desk delivery at the end. I love the shot, the performance and the payoff. The one guy that didn't make it into the show (only because he's technically Moblogic not "Wallstrip") is Clark Caldwell, who did the awesome job of shooting and lighting. Enjoy!

BIG BIG News!

Make sure you watch today's show @ Wallstrip. Stay 'til the end.

Here's a quick summary from the Silicon Alley Insider, but there's sure to be more, in depth coverage after today.

New TeeVee got it mostly right HERE, but promise corrections after they talk to Julie tomorrow.

Here's a sign of things to come:

All Good Things Must End

Two years ago, my neighbor and I had the great idea to build a quarterpipe. It had sweet 9' transitions, 3' high, 8' wide with 1 1/2" metal coping along a 1 1/2' deck. We'd pull it out onto Baltic Street on weekends, turn up the music, pop the beers and skate until it was too dark to see. Just like I used to do when I was a teenager. Riding up the ramp and doing my first kickturn gave me such a rush of returning to a younger age. It's hard to describe, but I could viscerally feel all the fun I used to have on my ramps skating. So I figured I'd score the video below with one of my old faves: Descendents "I Don't Wanna Grow Up".

I started getting back some of my old tricks and then I fell. I tore my meniscus in my right knee and was out of commission for months. As the ramp sat in my alley in the rain and snow, it became pretty unusable. I was going to try and donate the transitions and coping to a park or individual, but alas, the weather got the best of the wood.

Recently, our landlord asked if we could remove the "piece of wood" so his son, the doctor, could park there. We never signed on to live next to/in a parking lot, but the ramp needed to go regardless. And the fight to keep cars out of our yard begins.

Here's the 1 and only video made of our first session and some photos as it was being torn down. R.I.P. Baltic Park, it was a blast!

The skeletal remains:

Nothing but firewood now:

Come to think of it, that's not a bad idea!

Little Michael Jackson vs. William Shatner

Our friends Clark Caldwell and Miles Kahn produced a video in the ECNY Awards this year. It's from the hilarious mind of Dave Hill. Check it out and VOTE for them. It's in the Best Short Comedic Film category with the title, "Little Michael Jackson and Me".

By following Dave Hill's links, I ran into this masterpiece of mash-up. WOW!

John Cassavetes vs. Ronald Reagan!

What I wouldn't give to have a chance to take a shot at ole "trickle down".

Hilary Gets Human

I first saw the Hilary video on The Peeled Apple blog, where Amanda Elend gives a great feminist take on Hilary's "moment of weekness."

Before I watched the video, I thought this was a contrived move to gracefully coast into the VP seat, but after watching it, I felt she really showed a human side. A side that no man could show without being considered weak and feminine; ultimately blowing his chances of winning. She may have blown her chances as well or done exacly the opposite. Only time will tell. Although I still hold her vote for the war against her, this cast her and the Presidential role in a different light. What a concept: to have a President that actually displays human emotions. Of course, the skeptic in me can't escape the thought that this too may have been a PR move. Judge for yourself:

Too Busy to Blog?

So the holidays have come and gone and even though I did A LOT of relaxing and felt like I had LOTS of free time, I still didn't seem to have enough time to do so many things... like blogging.

Here's some stuff I found over the holidays:

It never gets old:

I wish I'd thought of this 12 years ago. Different song, of course.

We're back in full swing at Wallstrip starting today. We're going to have some great changes very soon. Stay tuned. And for the last time, I promise, here's our end of the year music video. I hope 2008 brings this much fun again and again and again!
