Paris Cinema IFF is Honoring Hong Kong Cinema
0

Paris Cinema IFF is held early July in Paris and is getting ready to celebrate its 10th anniversary from June 30 to July 10, 2012!  This year, all the way from Paris to Hong Kong, they hold a special tribute from one of the greatest capitals of cinema history to another!

In previous years, after honoring Lebanon, the Philippines, Turkey, Japan and Mexico, Paris Cinema IFF will celebrate its 10th anniversary with typical grandeur by honoring one of the Asian Tigers, Hong Kong, a true city-state with a strong tradition of cinema and famous worldwide for its dynamism and great cinema up until today.

Through a selection of more than 80 movies, audiences will explore a wide panorama of Hong Kong cinema, ranging from melodramas from the ‘50s and the ‘60s, rare movies from the Hong Kong New Wave, and still to be released movies from the newest generation of filmmakers.

This ground-breaking program is being presented in conjunction with the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society, a pioneer since the late 1970s in bringing Hong Kong cinema to the world.

Each year during the first two weeks of July, the Paris Cinema IFF aims to embody the outstanding vitality of cinema with a variety of films, cinematic genres and special programs for audiences in a variety of venues that only Paris can offer.  With more than 200 films screened during ten days in emblematic spots of the French capital, Paris Cinema IFF gathers every year more than 70,000 visitors.

The Paris Cinema IFF also offers a special program outlining world contemporary cinema through a selection of about ten movies (fictions and documentaries) presented by their directors. These movies from the whole world contribute for the Prize of the Public, the Prize of the Jury, the Prize of the Bloggers and the Prize of the students.
