This update just came in from the Dardenne Brothers:

The audiovisual has been excluded from the mandate given to the European Commission within the framework of the negotiations between Europe and the United States.

This was our request. We have succeeded, Europe has succeeded, civilization has succeeded. Culture is the key of our future, of our democracy. It is not a good like the others.

The implementation in this battle of the French government and specially Nicole Brick has been decisive. The vote of the resolution by the European Parliament excluding culture has been a first strong signal given to the Commission. The position of the Belgian and Romanian government has been essential. We shall remain attentive during the negotiations with the United States that this victory shall not be put in stake. The battle continues but today is the day to taste the victory of our fights and our believes.
