Six films from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and Uruguay participated in the 21st edition of Films in Progress at the Rencontres Cinémas d’Amérique Latine in Toulouse, jointly organised with San Sebastian Festival. The second part of this twice yearly rendezvous will take the shape of Films in Progress 22 at San Sebastian this coming September. A total of 118 films were received for Films in Progress 21.

To celebrate it's 25th anniversary, The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles® (BAFTA Los Angeles) has announced a new three-year scholarship program for graduate students studying in the U.S. The annual program will grant a scholarship of $15,000, with a runner-up receiving $5,000, and two honorable mention scholarships of $1,500 each.

Fifteen feature film projects from 14 countries have been selected for the 8th Cinéfondation Atelier at the 65th Cannes International Film Festival (from May 16 to 27). Created in 2005 to help emerging and confirmed filmmakers to complete financing for their film (115 directors have benefitted so far, 72 films have been made, and 20 are still in pre-production), the Atelier will allow those selected in 2012 to be present on the Croisette from May 18 to 25 with their producers for individual meetings with the professionals interested in their projects.
