This is an important new way to keep up with (and see!) festival films even when you cannot attend the festival. It was founded by three former sales executive Alessandro Raja, formerly of Celluloid Dreams, Mathilde Henriot, formerly of MK2, and Lucie Kalmar, formerly of Wild Bunch, They know buyers, sellers, the kinds of films which sell, and how buyers need to screen films.

Festival Scope is now available online. The new platform for film industry professionals brings professionals closer to festivals around the world as it allows for online screenings of a selection of films screened at some of the world's major film festivals. For many international films, the world premiere at a film festival might be their main window of exposure. Professionals visiting festivals are often chasing the larger films in theatres with audiences, rather than spending hours in a video booth, though some festivals are extending this booth time into a month or two after the festival is over. However it works certain films are bound to be overlooked.

Recent film presentations available on Festival Scope include winning films from the Sarajevo Film Festival (TILVA ROSH by Nikola Ležaić), ERA New Horizons (MUNDANE HISTORY by Anocha Suwichakornpong), Paris Cinéma (DOOMAN RIVER by Zhang Lu), Taormina Film Fest (FROM THE WAIST ON by Gianfrancesco Lazotti) as well as the Locarno Open Doors winning project (SUNNY DAYS by Nariman Turebayev).

From the Venice Orizzonti Competition, comes the section's award winners SUMMER OF GOLIATH by Nicolás Pereda,

Summer of Goliath

In the medium-length category you can watch OUT by Roee Rosen, as well as a selection of other titles such as EL SICARIO ROOM 164 by Gianfranco Rosi, DHARMA GUNS by F. J. Ossang, THE SWORD AND THE ROSE by João Nicolau, JEAN GENTIL by Laura Amelia Guzmán & Israel Cárdenas and CARACREMADA by Lluís Galter.

Festival Scope will also regularly highlight filmmakers to keep an eye on. Coming up shortly is a focus on Flatform, the filmmaker collective, based in Milan and Berlin, whose work has been represented at international film festivals and prestigious art museums around the world. Their latest short film CAN NOT BE ANYTHING AGAINST THE WIND, screened at Orizzonti in Venice.

Upcoming festival events include Filmfest Hamburg, Nouveau Cinéma Montreal, Valdivia International Film Festival, Chile, Viennale, Vienna and Gijón International Film Festival, Spain, from which a selection of films will be available to screen on Festival Scope during and following the festivals. More festivals will be announced shortly!
