The Queer Palm is awarded by a jury of journalists and organizers of LGBT film festivals which rewards a movie for its artistic qualities and its treatments about gay, lesbian, bi or trans and gender questions. Gregg Araki’s Kaboom was the first movie awarded in 2010. The Queer Palm is a collaborative project and everyone can participate and win gifts and invitations for the awards ceremony in Cannes on ulule.com/queer-palm until May, 15th. Awards Night takes place Saturday, May 21 at 6PM on the Cherie at Cheri Beach. Entry by festival badge or by invitation.

See below the jump for films and many events around this!

See the blog Movie On for more information. Meanwhile here is some quick info on events and the films:

These are the films to be considered for the award during the second edition of the Queer Palm.

To read about each movie you have to open the complete guide and browse it; guide is available here in French and English, but be careful as the English version has several mistakes.

(Per Sydney: I guess this will not qualify, because it is in the Market and not in the Festival, but it caught my attention. And it's Latino too! And directed by a woman!)
Queer Pet Adventures, Véronique Courtois ♀ , U.S., ISA: M-Appeal
Juan, a gorgeous Latino with his sexy little chihuahua, Salsa; and Katy, the soft butch Asian with her resourceful Siamese cat, are off to a series of adventures featuring images that are dear to the LGBT community.
