What's even more shocking is that he will become CEO at Protagonist. Not that he is ignorant of the international film business. His writing on it has always been an inspiration to me and I will miss reading his thoughts and analyses.
Protagonist is the international sales and financing company established in 2008 by shareholders Film4, Vertigo Films and Ingenious Media. Nigel Williams joined as majority shareholder and Chairman in 2010. Ben Roberts, its previous CEO, announced in April that he was leaving Protagonist to serve as new head of the BFI Film Fund starting this June.
Protagonist has sold titles including StreetDance, Tyrannosaur, Kill List, The Imposter, How I Live Now, Sightseers and The Sweeney.
Wendy Mitchell, Screen International’s current Head of Content, will serve as Acting Editor until a new editor is confirmed. She will work with Goodridge during a handover period until the end of July.

Mike is one of the good guys of entertainment journalism, the anthisis or the snarky, ego maniacle personalities who drive many of the current show biz publications, both on-line and in print. His reportage and editing was always spot on and his demeanor consistently cordial and positive even when probing for the facts. His reviews were equally insightful without resorting to snide commentary. His journalistic perspective will be missed and he will doubtless prove to be an asset in his new executive role. Best wishes going forward.
