Canada's premier International Film Festival will serve once again as the meeting point for producers from across Europe, North America, as well as  Australia and New Zealand in this occasion. Toronto's Producers Lab will take place from September 4 to 7 as part of the many events surrounding the prestigious showcase of the best in cinema from all over the globe.

The program, now in its fourth edition, seeks to create strong relationships between the film industries of Canada and its counterparts in other countries via its trans-Atlantic network. Financed in part by MEDIA Mundus programme of the European Union with help from the EFP and its associated member organizations, like the OMDC, TIFF, SA, NZFC, Eurimages and Telefilm Canada, the lab is fertile ground for the development of projects that offer innovative proposals in terms of financing, creativity, and distribution.

The results from the past three years are evidence of great networking opportunities offered at the event. A group of three participants from the 2010 lab return to this year's fest with their completed featured STAY, a Canadian-Irish co-production that will see its World Premier in Toronto. The 2011 batch of attendees has in their hands 21 tentative projects while last year's participants are working on getting 25 films off the ground and into production. Evidently, the 2013 class promises to be equally as productive as it includes names that already have acclaimed co-productions on their list of credits and high-quality projects in the pipeline, which could be interesting for the international market.

The 24 selected participants, among them some from the EFP's prestigious Cannes-based platform Directors on the Move, will have the chance to take advantage of numerous pitching sessions, roundtables, and case studies, as well as being part of crucial networking events with high profile figures in the film industry. Certainly an invaluable opportunity for those looking to jump-start or cement a career in the competitive field of production.
