Biggest Opening Weekends of All-Time

(I promise this is the last Bat-related post)

1 The Dark Knight $158,300,000
2 Spider-Man 3 $151,116,516
3 Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest $135,634,554
4 Shrek the Third $121,629,270
5 Spider-Man $114,844,116
6 Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End $114,732,820
7 Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith $108,435,841
8 Shrek 2 $108,037,878
9 X-Men: The Last Stand $102,750,665
10 Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire $102,685,961

64 Batman Forever $52,784,433
80 Batman Begins $48,745,440
98 Batman Returns $45,687,711
111 Batman and Robin $42,872,605
123 Batman $40,489,746

As far as records go, all of them that it was eligible for have been broken. It grossed more than Batman & Robin did in its entirety by Saturday. It should outgross Batman Returns on Monday, and both Batman Forever and Batman Begins by the end of the week.

Also of note, Mamma Mia! surpassed Hairspray as the all-time biggest opening weekend for a musical.
