After 10 days straight of my roommate singing this song every minute she possibly could, it was now obvious for me to share this one with you (since it's been stuck in my head for so long, it's kind of a way for me to get rid of it). You'll probably not like it that much on first listen -- Susanne Sundfør has a very high pitch voice, strong and fragile in a way that can easily get on your nerves if you don't like those kind of singers -- but trust me, after three or four listens, you'll be stuck with it and it's gonna become your new experimental shower song.

Alt-J's album "An Awesome Wave" just followed in the footsteps of Pulp, Portishead, PJ Harvey, Antony and the Johnsons, Franz Ferdinand and The xx (among others) to take home this year's Mercury Prize for the year's best album in the UK and Ireland. And deservedly so. I've been obsessed with it since given the introduction back in August, heightened a month by what is clearly never happening again: Seeing them for $12 in a tiny venue in Montreal.

OK, so Daniel Radcliffe is really playing the younger version of Jon Hamm in "A Young Doctor's Notebook" - an adaptation of the short stories of Mikhail Bulgakov, heading to British TV in December. But hey - it's not December yet! So for those who prefer to see this as a bizarre and apparently not very comfortable bathroom liaison between the boy wizard and the advertising supremo, your moment has come.

Fabulous news: British television network ITV has commissed a sitcom starring Sir Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi -- both openly gay -- in which they'll play a couple living together in Covent Garden. And even better: It's gonna be called "Vicious Old Queens." There's going to be six 30 minute episodes to start airing next April.

This week's pick is from a band that you've probably discovered, like me, in an Apple commercial that launched the fourth-generation iPod Nano in 2009 via their second single "Bruises". Since then, I've always kinda had a crush on their electro-pop music. Unfortunately, the trio got split up. So everyone kind of forgot them, including myself. But no! The New-Yorkers Caroline Polachek, and Patrick Wimberly had a second album released earlier this year. The first single of this album is the strange song I'm recommending today...

Sally Potter is nothing if not original. She made her name writing and directing “Orlando” - an adaptation of Virginia Woolf’s novel, previously considered unfilmable due to its 400-year timespan and protagonist who changes gender at will.
