BeThe incredibly powerful and articulated speech that the adorable, brave Lana Wachowski gave earlier this week has been making the rounds, and I figured why not post here in the chance you've missed, because you really, really should not. Her speech is rather unprecendented for a woman in her profession, and she pulls it off so gracefully and thoughtfully, putting the perspective of being a transgendered person out there in a really necessary way.

Though not on the same level as "Lincoln"/New York Film Festival, the London Film Festival did manage a notable "secret screening" with the technical European premiere of David O. Russell's "Silver Linings Playbook."

This week's pick is one of my favorites from the summer, and since that's all over and the leaves are already falling, it feels good being a bit nostalgic... The first time I heard Django Django, I was at a party and remember clearly asking myself many times...''What is this random music?'' But it grew on me, this really unique mix of country, dance, electronic, pop and ambient. Most of their songs are crafted for hand-clapping and feet-stomping, the standout -- "Wavelengths" -- included. Listen/watch below:

Speaking of women and 'Saturday Night Live,' I just have to give a shout-out to the primary reason I've continued by tradition of skimming through each episode on Sunday mornings this season: Kate McKinnon.

I'm currently on GMT, so I was asleep when the Hollywood Foreign Press Association made the glorious, glorious announcement that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler would be replacing Ricky Gervais as the hosts of the Golden Globe Awards. Celebration Dance!. The Golden Globes have trumped even the Oscars by picking my essential dream hosts, and for the fourth consecutive year making the GGs the ceremony I'm deep down looking more forward to (though he lost his appeal last year, I thought Gervais was great his first two tries, and considerably more enjoyable than anything the Oscars have managed in recent memory).

Unknown Mortal Orchestra is a pretty recent discovery of mine... they opened for Grizzly Bear a few weeks back in Montreal, which is where they initially caught my ear. During the show, I thought they were good but not particularly memorable, but then I surprised myself by singing the lyrics the day after and since I've grown really impressed. Their whole album works as a kind of psychedelic pop rock and I would suggest to listen to it fully. Every day you will love each songs a little bit more, and every week you'll have a new favourite one. But I suggest "Ffunny Ffrends" as your ffirst ffavourite:
