Given it's National Coming Out Day, I figured I'd offer up an unfortunate little story from last night, when myself and fellow Lost Boys blogger Matthew Knott were walking home from the opening night party of the London Film Festival.

Jeffery Self and Bryan Safi's "What Do You ____ Is Doing Right Now" is a new and regular addition to The Lost Boys blog (and appropriately references Indiewire, so it seemed like a good starting point). Check out all their videos here.

This past weekend in Reykjavik, the Reykjavik International Film Festival's Talent Lab was treated to something truly special: Icelandic "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" editor Valdis Oskarsdottir turned up to show an early cut of the film, followed up by a truly inspiring discuss about what it was like editing the film, and Oskarsdottir's thoughts on her craft in general.

So we know: The Iceland stuff is getting annoying. You get it, we're in Iceland and Bjork and Dario Argento are here too. But we capped off our trip to the Reykjavik International Film Festival with a few hours at what is truly one of the most glorious tourist attractions in the world: The Blue Lagoon.

All Hail Iceland and Belgium

And while we're on the subject of gay rights... I spent the past week in Iceland, where the Prime Minister, Johanna Sigurdardottir, is the world's first openly lesbian head of government. Since then, I've learned that Belgium is run by openly gay Prime Minister Elio de Rupo, making it the first country in the world to have an openly gay person as long term national leader (Johanna Sigurdardottir serves under a president). As Elio di Rupo said when he first came out, "I'm gay. So what?". But at the same time, it's a significant first which I can't see being replicated in the UK or US any time soon - and having previously not been aware of either, it felt like trivia worth sharing. You'd be forgiven for not knowing that Sally Field had a gay son - she's never spoken about it before, presumably because it's none of anyone's business.

This'll be the final Iceland-related video today, I promise, but here's a quick (and admittedly, uneventful) clip of Bjork's surprise (at least to me) appearance presenting an award at the Reykjavik International Film Festival. When they announced her name, I genuinely thought it was a joke. But then a gasp (from the 25% of the audience that weren't Icelandic, everyone else didn't seem to flinch) and the immediate rise of 100 iPhone cameras confirmed that Bjork was indeed in the house:

Dario Argento wasn't the only big winner at the Reykjavik International Film Festival. Matt Knott, contributor to both Indiewire and this blog, and a great partner in crime since we met at the most glorious film festival of all time (I'd also say he's an excellent filmmaker -- which is he -- but it might sound biased), won the festival's Golden Egg for best short film:

Watch The Mayor of Reykjavik Fete Dario Argento

This past weekend in Reykjavik, the mayor of Iceland's capital city Jón Gnarr (on the left in the above photo) handed legendary genre filmmaker Dario Argento the Reykjavik International Film Festival's honorary Golden Puffin award at a ceremony at City Hall. While that may seem like a little unexciting, keep in mind that Gnarr is no ordinary mayor. As depicted in the fantastic 2010 documentary "Gnarr," Mr. Mayor is one of Iceland's best known comedians, and more or less ran for office as a joke.

Iamamiwhoami is not just ambient, dream pop electronic music, but also a multimedia project runned by a lovely Swede named Jonna Lee.
