This week's pick is from a band that you've probably discovered, like me, in an Apple commercial that launched the fourth-generation iPod Nano in 2009 via their second single "Bruises".  Since then, I've always kinda had a crush on their electro-pop music. Unfortunately, the trio got split up. So everyone kind of forgot them, including myself.  But no! The New-Yorkers Caroline Polachek, and Patrick Wimberly had a second album released earlier this year. The first single of this album  is the strange song I'm recommending today... You'll like them if you like : MGMT, Of Montreal, The Knife What to wear while listening to that song : A really big oversized 80's graphic sweater What to do while listening to that song : Dance awkwardly in your living room What to eat while listening to that song : Alphabet soup in a thermos.

Sally Potter is nothing if not original. She made her name writing and directing “Orlando” - an adaptation of Virginia Woolf’s novel, previously considered unfilmable due to its 400-year timespan and protagonist who changes gender at will.

BeThe incredibly powerful and articulated speech that the adorable, brave Lana Wachowski gave earlier this week has been making the rounds, and I figured why not post here in the chance you've missed, because you really, really should not. Her speech is rather unprecendented for a woman in her profession, and she pulls it off so gracefully and thoughtfully, putting the perspective of being a transgendered person out there in a really necessary way.

Though not on the same level as "Lincoln"/New York Film Festival, the London Film Festival did manage a notable "secret screening" with the technical European premiere of David O. Russell's "Silver Linings Playbook."

This week's pick is one of my favorites from the summer, and since that's all over and the leaves are already falling, it feels good being a bit nostalgic... The first time I heard Django Django, I was at a party and remember clearly asking myself many times...''What is this random music?'' But it grew on me, this really unique mix of country, dance, electronic, pop and ambient. Most of their songs are crafted for hand-clapping and feet-stomping, the standout -- "Wavelengths" -- included. Listen/watch below:
