Best Worst Movie Trailer

I’m seriously considering watching the entire film tonight.

“Le Donk” In Edinburgh

Check out my article on the Edinburgh screening of Shane Meadows’ new film - shot in 5 days, with no script and 30,000 pounds.

Here’s the trailer:

It Wasn’t Me

Check the 32 second mark:

Pretty excting, yeah?  I thought so too. Except that, after few seconds of feeling pretty cool, I thought to myself… “I don’t remember even writing about ‘The Cove.’” And it turns out, I didn’t. Eric Kohn did.  So while obviously I had no part in Lionsgate/Roadside Attractions research error, my sincere apologies to Eric my accidental credit taking.

“Shutter Island” Trailer

Whoa. Here’s the much anticipated trailer Martin Scorcese’s “Shutter Island,” featuring Leonardo diCaprio looking like Frank Wheeler stuck on some crazy ass island.  It feels more like a Dennis Lehane film than Martin Scorcese (which makes sense), and the supernatural thriller genre seems like it could be a stretch for big Oscar play. But not every movie is made to win Oscars.  I’m really curious to see how Scorcese handles this genre, and from the looks of this, it could be a lot of intense, spooky fun. And you CANNOT BEAT this cast (somehow Patty Clarkson makes the cliched line “they can’t let you leave!” feel inspired).  While I’m sure quite a few people are going to roll their eyes at this trailer, but it left me kind of excited.

The New Melrose Place Gets A 4-Minute Trailer; Loses One Prospective Viewer

I watched three seasons of the original Melrose Place quite religiously, and perhaps I was blinded by my youthful ignorance at the time, but I don’t remember it ever seeming as bad as the 4-minute trailer for its successor suggests. Or at least it was fun-bad.  Frankly, the acting and dialogue of the new MP remind me of middle-range Canadian television, which is not at all a complement, or suggestive of anything fun. Not one character seems appealing, nor do their uninspired moral dilemmas (should Lauren take up prostitution to get money for medical school!?!).  And if the many rumors are true that it is back-from-the-dead Sydney - the obvious bright spot - dead in the pool and the first season is some sort of “who killed Sydney” murder mystery… I can’t say that’s enticing me further.
