“Le Donk” In Edinburgh

Check out my article on the Edinburgh screening of Shane Meadows’ new film - shot in 5 days, with no script and 30,000 pounds.

Here’s the trailer:

Le Donk, having been shot on $50,000 in 5 days, arrives more than one year behind schedule. Is it funny? Will American audiences understand the accents? Is it just a home movie ‘in joke’?
But if you want to see what sets the bar when it comes to the faux documentary, you should check out Pleased Sheep Films’ “Diary of a Bad Lad”, which was made on one tenth of Shane’s budget. And also, if you’re a Shane fan, you should check out Joe O’Byrne’s “Looking for Lucky”.

Oh yes, another guerilla from the man himself proving that all you really need to make a film is a camera, an idea and of course a few partcipants who are willing to help on the way.
Meadows has indefinately bought with him his own style to this type of film making from the start of his career to the present and it more than shines.
‘Le Donk’ looks hilarious and for something that was shot in five days would appear to meet every expectation of what a Meadowumentury has offerd in the past.
If you havn’t already seen a meadowumentury then get out and buy all of his films. They are all worthy of a DVD collection and live up to the word EXTRAS with their additional content.
