I gotta say I'm beaming with pride this morning thanks to this news that "Cirque du Foret" - the film that came out of the Picton Picturefest youth retreat I helped organize last summer has been selected to screen in competition at the Toronto Film Festival's new Next Wave Film Festival next month.
With the help of filmmaker mentors Stephen Dunn and Pat Mills, the film was the creation of the seven young folks that made the trek to Picton last summer -- Syd Brown, Christian Everall, Jemima Heinricks, Claire Morse, Maddy Pilon, and Lost Boys contributors Oliver Skinner and Derek Marchewka (all pictured above with Dunn, Mills, myself and my partner-in-crime Jennifer MacFarlane).
Congrats to all involved! Part of the Jump Cuts Young Filmmakers Showcase, the film will screen on May 11 and 12 at TIFF Bell Lightbox in Toronto. You can also check it out below:
