The Winter Olympics have always been a crack-like love for me, and at the heart of that crack is, yes, figure skating (sorry, hockey, you get the silver). Thanks in large part to my dear mother, I became obsessed during the 1988 Calgary games, and have watched every single Olympic figure skating competition since. Yes: Those were the gayest two sentences I've ever blogged. But, wait, it gets gayer. So last night after my third hour of watching the men's singles competition (which - if you are among the few that care - was above-average fabulous), I for some reason decided that its appropriate to gather together for you the dreamiest figure skaters of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics... (for those of you more into the more conventional athletic types, check out this tastefully done portfolio of shirtless Canadian Olympians). Enjoy, and don't judge me:
There's Stephane Lambiel of Switzerland:
and Samuel Contesti of Italy:
and Alexander Smirnov of Russia (who is actually in pairs):
and then, of course, there is ridiculous sexiness that is France's Brian Joubert:
Which is only heightened by a quick google image search that shows a variety of somewhat scandalous photos, that, yes, I have included after the jump (NSFWish).
Fun fact from Wikipedia:
"Joubert has been considered somewhat of a heartthrob in his native country, France. This reputation has been contributed to by Joubert's short relationship with former Miss France, Lætitia Bléger. He later brought a lawsuit against Bléger for 40,000 Euros for insinuating that he was homosexual and that their relationship was arranged to hide this. Bléger and two magazines that published her allegations were ordered by a French court to pay a total of 17,000 Euros, and to publish the court ruling in one of the two magazines."
