It's Oscar Day!

Since I was six years old, Oscar day has come with an unparalleled sense of excitement and energy, and today is no exception. While I'll admit the fact that I'm in Los Angeles and away from the family and friends I've shared this day with over the past twenty years has brought on a weird sense of homesickness (miss ya, Mom!), I'm ready to take on my 21st Academy Awards with the enthusiasm I first found on March 25th, 1991 when I won the first annual Knegt family Oscar Pool after bawling my eyes out when Julia Roberts lost for "Pretty Woman" (I'm not sure there has been a gayer moment for any six year old).

So never mind that there's really no suspense with most of the big races, or that this awards season has exhausted my ability to articulate anything original re: Oscar.... It's still Oscar night. And I'm still livin' that gay little boy's dream by watching it here in Hollywood, mere feet from the Kodak Theater. So to everyone that shares some part of this kind of enthusiasm, I wish you a lovely, lovely Oscars...
