I'm heading off to Copenhagen tonight for 6 days on a jury at CPH: DOX, what I've heard is one of the most innovative and exciting film festivals around these days (in a city that's always been super high on list of places to visit). Technically a documentary film festival, CPH DOX has clearly made great strides at stepping outside that box, incorporating experimental films that work in the spirit of documentaries ("Trash Humpers" won the fest's big award last year, par example... and now Harmony Korine is back this year to curate a program for the fest), giving music a huge presence (Animal Collective is programming what looks to be an amazing bunch of films), and finding new ways to throw a party (I missed their opening weekend party that took place on a metro car traveling 7 hours from Copenhagen to Norway).
Said to be sort of the SXSW of European documentary film festivals, I can't say I'm not horribly excited. And that if it's anywhere near as fun as I expect it to be, don't expect to be hearing much from this blog until I get back on Sunday.
