One the best American films of the year, Sean Durkin's "Martha Marcy May Marlene" is beginning its limited release this weekend. With it comes the official theatrical debut of one Elizabeth Olsen, who gives a truly stunning performance as a young woman recovering from a terrifying stint in a cult. I talked with Olsen way back in Sundance - where the film debut - the audio of which is posted below.

Abe Sylvia Talks "Dirty Girl"

For a fun time this weekend, check out Abe Sylvia's irresistibly sassy directorial debut "Dirty Girl" - a raunchy, 1980s set comedy that details the story of smart, slutty Danielle (the transformative Juno Temple) and overweight, gay Joel (Nicholas D'Agosto). I chatted with Sylvia back at last year's Toronto Film Festival, where the film debuted. Please excuse how awkward I am, and enjoy how charming and genuine Mr. Sylvia is:

"Was it the face of Jesus or the face of the devil?" That's what's apparently being asked with regard to the following video, which sees storm clouds morphfrom what appeared to be a pig face to the face of Jesus:

Three Clips From Sarah Polley's "Take This Waltz"!

Most certainly one of my most anticipated films of this year's Toronto Film Festival, three clips from writer/director Sarah Polley's "Take This Waltz" have surfaced and they're gorgeous (who knew Sarah Polley had so much Wong Kar Wai in her). An infidelity drama (my favourite kind of drama!) set during a hot Toronto summer, its script was on the Blacklist (with good reason - I got the chance to read last year and it's fantastic), and I can't think of much better hands than Polley herself as director and Michelle Williams as star to pull it off. And the somewhat questionable casting of Sarah Silverman as Williams' sister-in-law seems promising here (if you can judge by a minute-long clip, at least). Enjoy:

I still can't get over how insane things got last night after Vancouver lost. 140 people in the hospital? Multiple STABBINGS!? It's a fucking hockey game, but somehow it resulted in turning a generally calm city into an absolute warzone. First world fucking problems, people.

Eight Minutes In The Back of a Car With Mike Mills

Here's the audio that goes with this interview with "Beginners" director Mike Mills, which took place in the back of a car while Mills was en route to a screening of the film at last fall's Toronto Film Festival (the film opens in theaters today)... Mills is a charming guy, and has made a lovely little film in "Beginners." The film juggles chronologies as it details a pivotal period in the life of Oliver (Ewan McGregor), a man in his late thirties dealing with the death of his father (an endlessly charming Christopher Plummer). Through flashbacks, Mills shows the years leading up to Oliver's father's death - most notably in the fact that after Oliver's mother's death, his father decided to come out at age 75. In doing so, Mills is actually showing audiences a glimpse a pivotal period in his own life. While parts of the film are largely fictionalized (a romance between Oliver and a young French actress played by Melanie Laurent is fiction, for example), the base of "Beginners" is very much Mills' own story. Warm, authentic and perfectly whimsical, definitely check out "Beginners" this weekend...
