Caught “The Swell Season” - the doc on "Once" stars Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova - at Tribeca last night... Ith almost feels like a sequel to “Once” - had the two main characters ended up getting together and forming a band (which is not entirely implausible). While “Once” was more or less a work of fiction, “The Swell Season” is actually documentary, even if the documentarians’ verite approach might make anyone unknowing think otherwise... More on the film here. Q&A below:

To Be a Fly on the Wall In The Star-Studded Tribeca Film Festival Jury Deliberations

The Tribeca Film Festival announced its juries today and as per usual, it's ridiculously full of notable names, including David O. Russell, David Gordon Green, Dianne Wiest, Patrick Wilson, Christine Vachon, Souleymane Cisse, Whoopi Goldberg, Paul Dano, Zoe Kazan, Rainn Wilson, Anna Kendrick, Michael Cera, Denis Leary, Atom Egoyan and Fran Lebowitz. Some of the pairings are fascinating to consider... Dianne Wiest, Jason Sudeikis and David Gordon Green arguing over the narrative competition? Michael Cera and Whoopi Goldberg debating docs? Paul Dano, Rainn Wilson, Atom Egoyan and Anna Kendrick taking on the emerging narratives? Christine Vachon, Zoe Kravitz and Patrick Wilson debating doc and student shorts? And the kicker: Denis Leary, Fran Lebowitz, Nora Ephron, David O. Russell and Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales all watching the narrative shorts. Tribeca should really start filming deliberations and screening them.

Saturday night in Central Park, on the 70th anniversary of John Lennon's birthday, a couple hundred folks had the pleasure of an outdoor screening of Michael Epstein's doc "LennonNYC" - which looks at the period of time Lennon spent living in New York City during the 1970s - and the added bonus of one Lou Reed taking the stage to help introduce it. Here's a clip of Reed. Check out "LennonNYC" when it premieres on PBS November 22nd.

Here's six clips from today's very busy, very early screening and press conference of David Fincher's "The Social Network" at the Walter Reade Theatre. Fincher was joined by Aaron Sorkin, Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield and Justin Timberlake for a nearly hour long talk about the film (which I was underwhelmed by, but more on that later). I got up at 6:30am so you could enjoy these, so be grateful:
