"My Week With Marilyn" Finally Gets a Trailer

One of the final films of 2012 to receive a trailer (we're still waiting on "Young Adult," but that's about it), "My Week With Marilyn" finally gave us 2 minutes to judge upon, and boy are they pretty. We don't see much of Kenneth Branagh as Laurence Olivier (rumoured to be the best thing about the film), but we get plenty of Michelle Williams as Marilyn herself. Williams seems to definitely be offer her own interpretation of Monroe rather than simply mimicking her, which could go either way but these two minutes seem to suggest she's quite captivating. I'm sad to miss the premiere at NYFF this weekend (it's Canadian Thanksgiving and I've skipped out on that holiday one too many times recently), but its November 4th release date is really not too far off so we'll all get a chance to see "Marilyn" soon enough:

Watch Half of Hollywood Whore Themselves Out In The Cringe Worthy Trailer For "New Year's Eve"

A "spin-off" of one of the worst movies of the past decade, "Valentine's Day," the trailer for "New Year's Eve" has hit the interweb, and it looks as desperate and thrown together as one would expect. Half of Hollywood, or, specifically: Ashton Kutcher, Robert De Niro, Katherine Heigl, Lea Michele, Abigail Breslin, Hilary Swank, Michelle Pfeiffer, Zac Efron, Sofia Vergara, Julie Andrews, John Lithgow, Jessica Biel, Halle Berry, Sarah Jessica Parker, Sienna Miller, Alyssa Milano, Ryan Seacrest, Jon Bon Jovi, Ice Cube, Josh Duhamel and Greg Kinnear (Pfeiffer, Andrews and De Niro's involvement breaks my heart the most). Between them, the cast has 6 Oscars and 20 Oscar nominations. But for whatever reason, they all thought this was a good idea. And, sadly, it will probably make $150 million dollars. Can't wait for "Columbus Day!" in 2013.

Um... The Trailer For Taylor Launter's Post-"Twilight" Attempt at a Career Actually Looks Kinda Good

Is it just me? Or does Taylor Launter's first real attempt at a career beyond "Twilight" - mistaken identity action flick "Abduction" - actually look like a lot of cheesy-action-movie fun? I'm sold on the "Bourne", Jr. premise, and serious bonus points the great supporting cast (Sigourney Weaver, Alfred Molina, Jason Isaacs, Maria Bello). I would probably watch this ten times before taking on "Water For Elephants" (or half of the summer movie lineup, for that matter).

And speaking of Canadians, in my final video post of the day (and the most appropriately 'hump day' of the three), let us acknowledge that never has a movie trailer utilized Ryan Gosling's abdominal muscles - and charm - in such an effective manner as "Crazy Stupid Love."

"The Hangover Part II" Gets a Full Trailer

So far "The Hangover" sequel is looking like a total rehash the first but in a wilder, bigger-budget style setting. Probably good for a dozen laughs, but as someone lukewarm on the original, I'm not feeling it... Studio wise, it looks like this summer has very little options for which I'm particularly in to... "Bridesmaids," "Super 8," "Crazy Stupid Love," and maybe "Bad Teacher" and "Cowboys & Aliens" (sure, "Thor," "The Green Lantern" and "Captain America" all look like drooling-over-abs fests, but I've never been much of a superhero type). After that, I have zero to mild interest in everything else. Not even Pixar is doing it for me this summer.

The Trailer For "Your Highness"

So strange that just as Natalie Portman and James Franco compete for Oscars in February, their opposite-of-Oscar follow-up will be hitting theaters (or Sundance, I'd suspect?). I was a massive fan of "Pineapple Express," and am a sucker for a good pot-influenced cult classic, so I doubt I'll personally mind at all... And this redband trailer suggests a totally absurdist, non-sensical ride that was designed by David Gordon Green and Danny McBride specifically for those us in a certain headspace:

It's Big Gay Trailer Day From "Phillip Morris" to "Burlesque"

I wasn't exactly a fan of "I Love You Phillip Morris" when I first saw it nearly 2 years ago at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. However, I'm not one to wish ill-will on little films that at least try to be something different (and I do believe the filmmakers meant well), so I'm happy to see its release finally coming to fruition this December. I'm also quite impressed with Roadside Attractions marketing campaign thus far, from this clever and inventive poster last week to today's debut of a well-crafted, snappy red band trailer that highlights the film's best assets and most certainly doesn't go the gay-hiding way of "A Single Man." See for yourself (NSFW):
