A few days of belated 2000s-related lists begins with this look at what I feel are the 25 sexiest cinematic performances of the past 10 years. Obviously this comes out of a matter of personal aesthetic taste (though there are some performances where no one - man, woman, straight, gay, etc - could possibly disregard their sex appeal), and perhaps the list as whole says more about my sexual persuasions than anything else. That said, I did try my very best to include as many women as possible despite my 5.5 on the Kinsey Scale. And I'll admit there's a few female performances in here - particularly the top few - that made me wonder if I was more like a 3.

So here are some moments in 2000s cinema that got me going - and I'll make the assumption I am not at all alone (and please note, I ended up adding ten I missed to this entry later on)

25. Grégoire Leprince-Ringuet in "Love Songs"

24. Kate Winslet in "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"

23. Diego Luna in "Y Tu Mama Tambien"

Totally agree with all the love for Y Tu Mama Tambien and Christian Bale.

The cast of 'The Dreamers' definitely belong here!

As a mostly straight lady, I'm predisposed to love this list. I second Gael in "Bad Education" and Christian Bale in "American Psycho" — Bale's is the single sexiest performance of the decade IMHO. Viggo in "Eastern Promises" is an unusual choice, but I have to admit that fight scene was crotch-electrifying.

Some omissions, including a few more ladies:
Maggie Cheung and Tony Leung in "In the Mood For Love"
Natalie Portman in "Hotel Chevalier" (the practically softcore short film that accompanied "The Darjeeling Limited")
Michael Pitt, Louis Garrel, and Eva Green in "The Dreamers"
Monica "boobs" Bellucci in "The Matrix Reloaded"
    Uma Thurman in "Kill Bill"
    Jude Law in "Sleuth"
Isabelle Huppert in "The Piano Teacher"
Rocco Siffredi in "Anatomy of Hell"
Rain in "I'm a Cyborg and That's OK"
Zachary Quinto and Zoë Saldana in "Star Trek"
Robert Downey, Jr. in "Iron Man" (yes, seriously)
Tilda Swinton and Ewan McGregor in "Young Adam"
Cate Blanchett was so gorgeous in "Benjamin Button"
    Marisa Tomei in "The Wrestler"
The whole cast of "Beau Travail" (I can't believe a gay man missed this!)
    Thandie Newton in anything
    Cillian Murphy in anything
Adrien Brody probably has to be in here for something, though he doesn't really do it for me personally.
I guess Sasha Grey in "The Girlfriend Experience" is obligatory?

Thank you for not mentioning cliched "sexy movies" such as "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" or "Closer" or "Twilight." Or Megan Fox.

p.s. This makes me want to put together a separate list for TV. Molly Parker in "Deadwood," Jon Hamm, January Jones, and Christina Hendricks in "Mad Men," Idris Elba in "The Wire"...
