you're exaggerating, New Moon is only an entertainment and I do not think that it describes the actual state of American cinema. I would rather say that it shows the current state of American society, promoting abstinence before marriage, the cult of witheness. This is what struck me in the first movie. To me, the fact that the producers of 'A Single Man' removed explicit gay scenes from the trailer is horryfying but you've already pointed out this. We're witnessing a conservative revolution (another one), that's all.
