Tina Fey and Amy Poehler: The Best Decision An Awards Show Has Ever Made

I'm currently on GMT, so I was asleep when the Hollywood Foreign Press Association made the glorious, glorious announcement that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler would be replacing Ricky Gervais as the hosts of the Golden Globe Awards. Celebration Dance!. The Golden Globes have trumped even the Oscars by picking my essential dream hosts, and for the fourth consecutive year making the GGs the ceremony I'm deep down looking more forward to (though he lost his appeal last year, I thought Gervais was great his first two tries, and considerably more enjoyable than anything the Oscars have managed in recent memory).

Beyond the notable (and sad) truth that having a female duo host a major awards ceremony is a considerable milestone, Fey and Poehler are two of the most likeable, hilarious and charming personalities out there, and they also have established chemistry not only on SNL but whenever they are at any awards show together. And they genuinely seem like best friends who admire and respect one another, which makes it all the more fun to watch them interact. So please have them host forever. Or if you have to sub in Kristin Wiig or Maya Rudolph every few years, fine. But keep up the good work, Globes... And I gotta say: It was nice for something awards season-related to bring me genuine joy, for once.
