Top 5 Performances from the Whitney Houston DIVAS Concert That May Never Be

Earlier today, an image started circling the Internet.  On it was a list of the songs its poster professed to be on the VH1 Divas Live Tribute to Whitney Houston.  A number of things don't exactly make sense on the preliminary setlist.  Why is Kelly Clarkson singing two of her own songs, when no one else gets more than one?  Will anyone care about Carly Rae Jepsen in December?  Won't P!nk and Nicki Minaj have new singles to peddle by then?  The producers of "Sparkle" wouldn't use this as an opportunity to bring out Houston's able-voiced co-star Jordin Sparks?  Why is "The Bodyguard" soundtrack so heavily represented?

And so while we have reason to be suspicious of the list, and even if it is real, it does contain a note saying that the lineup may gain or lose performers, the list does give much reason for excitement.  Anyways...not since Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Shania Twain, Gloria Estefan and Carole King gathered around the piano for a rendition of "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" in 1998 has the DIVAS show, a fundraiser for VH1 Save the Music, been very relevant.  The organizers of the show should take the commentary spurred by this released set list as evidence of how to best do Queen Whitney right come December.

A Mega-Watt Version of "I'm Every Woman"

"A Natural Woman" it is not, but "I'm Every Woman," the Chaka Khan song that Whitney pumped up for "The Bodyguard" certainly deserves the star-studded treatment that it would get were Aretha Franklin, Beyonce, Brandy, Dionne Warwick, Kelly Clarkson, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Monica, Patti Labelle, P!nk, and (surprise!) Chaka Khan to sing it.
