So says Deadline: "This one's a drama that focuses on a "hard R" homosexual relationship between a U.S. soldier and an Iraqi. It's a cinema verite-style treatment that begins in the near future and then spans back over years that include the current war in Iraq. I've heard the siblings completed the script, want to direct it next, and that it is out to financiers."
It's a very curious project. And while save "Bound" and first "Matrix," the Wachowski Siblings don't exactly have an impressive track record, it's cool to see folks even attempting to get something like this off the ground. Especially given the fact that hundreds of gay men have been targeted and killed in Iraq since 2004, and that the issues the film could potentially present are intensely important ones. That is, if the Wachowskis have it in them to pull it off. "Speed Racer" this ain't.

@peterknegt why isn't THE SAPPHIRES listed alongside PINES, MUD, QUARTET, and BREAKERS as a $10m grosser? It says it's made over $11m right?
