I'll admit I just watched this four times in a row. And while its quite possible bad buzz deriving from those reported reshoots might end up actually proving justified, I'm totally ignoring them and letting this excellent trailer (when the nicely revised version of "Arcade Fire"'s "Wake Up" started, I totally got chills) take me to place of total optimistic anticipation. Dave Eggers, Spike Jonze, Catherine Keener... you have all very rarely failed me in the past, and I'm all for giving you the benefit of the doubt:
And while we're on the topic of Eggers - who's "Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius" holds a special place on my book shelf much like "Where The Wild Things Are" does, check out the trailer for "Away We Go," which I've been meaning to post since it came out a week or two ago. Eggers wrote the screenplay with his wife, Vendela Vida, and together with "Wild Things" it marks his 2009 double-screenwriting-debut. The trailer suggests it might be a wee bit familiar: a quirky ensemble, a road trip, pregnancy, hand-drawn graphic design credits, Allison Janney... But I'm so curious to see what Sam Mendes+Dave Eggers+the lovely Maya Rudolph (not to mention Catherine O'Hara, Jeff Daniels, Maggie Gyllenhaal...) truly equals when we see the film:
